A crushed bottom roll, a splintered wooden pallet in a cleanroom, a reel that shifted in the container: roll damage almost never happens during winding — it happens on the floor, on the road and in the warehouse.
Why rolls and flat pallets don’t mix
Wood pallets release splinters and dust into clean production areas, need nailed wooden wedges, and present every roll at a different height. Rolls stored on their flat ends risk edge damage; rolls laid on flat decks need improvised chocking on every single pallet. The answer is packaging shaped like the roll itself: cradle pallets, wedges and rack systems.
